Music is a language of the heart without words. Dr. Shinichi Suzuki was such an amazing observer of babies and children. His main goal was not only to impart his love of music to children but to inspire them to grow to be children with a 'beautiful heart'. In doing so, his hope was that they would reach their natural potential of a loving, happy person. Through his many years of observation and love for children, he was inspired to start the Early Childhood Education (ECE).
Suzuki Early Childhood Education (ECE) started with Dorothy Jones when she was asked by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki to start a program for children age 0-3 years old. Dorothy Jones pioneered the development of the Suzuki Prenatal, Baby and Toddler music program and along with her daughter Sharon Jones, they opened the Children's Talent Education Center in London Ontario. The unique aspect of the ECE is the emphasis on helping the child develop towards their potential of being a loving and happy individual. This is facilitated through the richness of the learning partnerships that are developed with the parent and instructor. The goal of the music program is to create an environment free from pressure in which children comfortably develop musical and social skills. During these weekly classes, the parent and baby learn together through a repertoire of lullabies, story-telling, songs with kinesthetic movement and nursery rhymes. The use of premium Orff instruments as well as some percussive instruments help enhance the learning experience for the student. If love is deep, much can be accomplished. |
